Visiting your local zoo or museum (and other science venues) is a fantastic way to encourage your kids to be enthusiastic about science. It’s a great opportunity for kids to see that other ‘real life’ people think that science is cool too! And I especially love when we come across cool female scientists who can act as positive role models for my girls.
I’ve found that many museums and zoos (especially government ones) have annual memberships that make repeat visits affordable, and often include reciprocal membership to other science venues. We’ve found this has been really handy for free entry to zoos and museums while we’ve been on holidays!
Here are a few of the science venues we’ve visited so far, and we plan to add many more as time goes on. Maybe you have similar science centres near you? It’s well worth checking out!
